Vitamins are key!

Weight loss does not come in some magic pill, I don't care how much they cost. However, some vitamins are necessary to ensure your body functions properly to promote weight loss. Of course, a well-balanced diet can indeed fulfill some of your nutrients, but if you are on a strict journey, you will need supplements to give you what you lack in food. It also helps to know that vitamins help give you the extra boost you need to stay on track with your weight loss regimen.

While on your journey, know that all vitamins are NOT created equal.

B-VITAMINS such as RIboflavin, thiamine, folate, and biotin are essential for a fully functioning metabolism. You can get this vitamin in sources like milk, beans, eggs, and lean meats.

VITAMIN D is for immune health. The sun helps the body out a lot when it comes to vitamin D, but some people stay indoors; therefore, a supplement is necessary. You can also get this vitamin in sources like salmon, tuna, milk, egg yolk, and cod liver oil.

Iron helps carry oxygen to all of the cells in our body. This actually helps burn fat. Not enough iron causes something called Iron deficiency anemia. Also, women with heavy periods are more prone to experiencing an iron deficiency. Along with an iron supplement, eating foods like lean meats, shellfish, beans, and spinach helps restore your iron.

Magnesium is vital for the production of energy in the body. Magnesium helps regulate blood pressure, control blood sugar, keeps the bones strong, and helps keep your nervous system functioning. Eating Legumes, seeds, nuts and other leafy greens are all a great source of magnesium.

For my weight loss surgery family, it is so imperative to take your vitamins. Our caloric intake is very small, so we will not be able to get the daily intake from our foods. Not taking our vitamins can cause fatigue, weakness, anemia, muscle disorders, and neuro disorders. Although it isn't necessary to take a million pills every morning, there are so many amazing bariatric multivitamins that only require 1 pill a day. Bariatric Choice, a once-daily bariatric vitamin, is my vitamin of choice. I order them religiously from Amazon.

I know it may seem hard to stay on track, but it's important to stick to a schedule. Use your alarm or calendar on your phone to remind you and to get a routine going.
